On the bridge of the Crofton.

All these Blyth pics are recovered from old slides and not that much is know about them.

They were taken by George Garrod who worked in the engine room of the Crofton.

A heavenly post compared to his former role as a stoker on the The Cowpen.

Any historic pictures are always more than welcome, for those not local to Blyth What was the Crofton a dump Hopper ?
As these pics are in conjunction with the "Cresswell" which we can see was a grab dredger.

THE CROFTON WAS A TWIN PIPE SUCTION DREDGER WITCH DISTCHARGED BY PUMPING THE WAST OUT AT FIRST SHE WAS GOING TO BE USED TO PUMP THE SAND FROM THE APROCHES BACK ONTO THE BEACH.
