Cruise liner passin Portknockie last night.

On the subject o' lums, and the Big Society etc. .. Jake Wiseman, who was cook on May Lily when I was one o' the crew, told me this.....................
It was Dundee, in the good old days when young boys were put up inside big lums to clean them. One poor fellow, working for his father, refused, being absolutely terrified. Father said .. I'll give you one more chance, but if you don't go this time, I'll take you up to Aberdeen and put you away on a trawler. The young guy thought it over for a second, then climbed the chimney!!!
