No amount of paint, shelter and railings can camoflage that boat after it was damaged last year.
I was asked to patch her up on the beach at Port Seaton, as the lad who had her couldnt wait to get rid of her.
About 8-10 planks were rotten and had no edges, rivet heads missing all over the place, deadwood filled with car filler. Ended up banging in about 75-100 bolts, 3kg of copper nails, 3 tubs of plastic padding and hoped she sealed up.
Engine beds were 3mm thick in places, engine was moving about, shaft was out of line and bent, gearbox was full of metal filings and exhaust was holed.
The deck was rotten, when I stood on it water came up through the gaps in the ply, so that was covered in fibreglass to keep some of the water out.
Boat made lots of water in bad weather and needed a few days to straighten up again, 40 year old now and showing her age.
Just hope the new owner has sorted out the problems as the paint wont hold it together in the winter.
Little bob this boat was stripped back on the pier on lossie and had thousands spent on her everything was removed and replaced by a ships carpenter and he has made her like new and the guy that has got her now was conned in to buying her from a guy in port seaton the guy even produced a written survey on the boat which did not show any signs of damage and that she was in good order it was only when she arrived in buckie harbour that the problem was noticed for one ive been out on this boat and there is no signs of movement from the engine or the shaft is bent, maybe this was fixed before she came here who knows and as for the 100 bolts i think youve got the number wrong as these were removed to allow the new planks to be fitted ive seen the bottom of her now and you would think she was like new i think hats off to the guy for restoring her.
