Skipper straight outa the operating theatre after major surgery to get him sitting in his chair in the cramped wheelhouse. He's from a 1:24th 'Italeri' kit of truckers and accessories. Hope he's found his sea legs.
Chair???...certainly wouldnae be a Bostrom Viking job in her when she was built Will! If the mannie was lucky he would have a wee locker on the aft side wi' a leather covered cushion on top,or a plank (usually a pocket board out the hold) that fitted across the way,to take the weight of his legs..creature comforts were unheard of back then
Thanks for that Ronnie. Don't know much about her interior re: seat, etc. I just remember the 1920's / 1930's sma' boats having a fold up stool and guessed at something a bit more accommodating. The chair is very basic and you would struggle to see it anyway. I'll maybe have another chat wi' Syd Cargill although his memories seem to be related mostly to her in her intermediate state. I do rely on and treasure views from experienced blokes like yourself. Keep them coming.
Aye Ronnie, you're right enough. Syd had a laugh as well and told me he just sat on an up-ended fish box to rest the pins.
Great things these old wooden fish boxes Will, they were handy for seats, storage space, small repair jobs, firewood, the list goes on and on...ye could even put fish in them if ye wanted to
looks like clark kent to me
Nothing gets past you MackRill. Shucks, I'll have to find another skipper noo.
Onybody that's daft enough tae wear their underpants ootside their troosers widnae mak a guid skipper lads, gie him his cairds!
Och Ronnie. I went to a lotta trouble painting over them. Howdya know? You got x-ray eyes?
