1.5mm mahogany capping completed. At last, time to get on with the deck fittings. Most unusual tabernacle which I haven't quite sussed yet. Anybody got a close up or sketch of the type fitted? It can be seen on the stbd view of her in the middle of the harbour in these pages.
Way to go Will. Now comes the really interesting part making all the deck fittings , I get bored with hulls .that's why I have 4 unfinished models sitting in my shed.
Good morning Dave. Want me come out and finish them for you? Lol.
Cheers Bud.

Will, I really enjoy making deck machinery, doors and all the other bits. I've made at least a dozen cobles for members, of my family and close friends over the last 40 years, the challenge being that you can't hide the inside of the planking by a deck. Plus I spent a great deal of my younger years in cobles so I still have a great affinity for them.
ps. Winter is coming upon us over here (it's getting down to 10 degrees Ho Hum) so I'll spend more time in my shed instead of Salt Water fly fishing.

Dave, The gunwale planking on the Girl Jean was put in without steaming or crimping so it can be done. Aye the deck fittings are more fun though as there is less repitition involved. Having already done a Miller winch/coiler for the Bruce's, I was looking forward to the Sutherland/Beccles arrangement. Even got a drawing for them! Maybe another time.
At least you get a decent summer out there. I call it a heat wave when it reaches 16c here.
