Girl Jean Re-shaped and shortened wheelhouse and galley

Girl Jean Re-shaped and shortened wheelhouse and galley

Just obtained photocopy of Girl Jean goin up the slip. My heart sank when I realised the earlier wooden galley was smaller than the later steel one.  Also that the wooden wheelhouse was smaller than that later fitted.
Surgery required the removal of the width of one window from each side of the galley and removal of the blank panels each side of the wheelhouse. I also reduced the height of the galley by 3mm. It appears she also has windows on rear of wheelhouse looking over the top of the galley. Also the engine room lights were further forward than later fitted.
The work has now been carried out.  These are the hazards of scaling and working from photographs (or the lack of them) However, I am happy that the structure is now fairly representative of the original. As I have said before and with the lack of drawings, I build representations rather than scale models of boats and the challenge is to get her as near right as possible.
