Girl Jean fitting matting ready for resin

Girl Jean fitting matting ready for resin

Cutting and fitting matting ready for resin coating. I usually do this job on the outside of the hull prior to paint but we'll see how this goes. I don't use fibreglass matting anymore as I find that dried out wet wipes do the job without those niggly splinters getting stuck between the fingers when cutting. For strength, I ensure the fibres in the wipes run across the planks and NOT in line with the grain, so helping to bind the planks together.

Another great idea Will, I'll take that on onboard. saves having all those fine strands of glass flying around the bench as well, as there always are some that escape. :coolsmiley: O0

I read a (long) while ago about a guy that uses nappy liners.  Damned if I'm gonna pay ten quid for a packet of them. I've just cut the whole lot out of 6 wipes.  Resin application on-going as I speak.  Having a wee rest.
    Cheers
