Claymore Poster

Claymore Poster

This is the completed poster!  It's a pity that I missed the boat by about 50 years!  I am a 'slow starter'...but I do hope that, even so late in the day, David MacBrayne Limited will be pleased with my efforts!  Perhaps, if I could do something similar for a present-day vessel, the company might even take some notice!

    Its never too late!

I've nicked a few clients over the years by just pitching stuff at them out of the blue

Its a cracking poster, from an advertising point of view, they might struggle with it not having the new corporate 'brand'

maybe an option with 'Caledonian Macbrayne' as well might turn their heads.  If you need a hand with the typography side to create proper 'camera ready artwork' giz a shout

got to be worth a punt:

Many thanks indeed, Mark. You are most kind.  I didn't think I had produced anything remarkable or even useful - I was just enjoying myself with Microsoft Publisher!  ??? ???  I have to say, though, that I have thought (more in jest than anything else) of painting a poster image featuring a car-ferry like the 'Isle of Mull' or the 'Lord of the Isles', set in splendid coastal scenery, and then adding the right kind of lettering!  The present effort deliberately represents the old David MacBrayne era, complete with the Robertson Street address!  The Highland warrior is, however, taken from the logo of the present David MacBrayne Limited, and he has a black kilt - not a tartan one, as in the olden days!  It is perfectly easy to reproduce the Caledonian MacBrayne script (as per the brand on ships' sides) and the Caley lion lives in my garage in various sizes, waiting for use on models etc.  So, yes, for the fun of it, I may well try a modern poster.  You are most generous to offer assistance.    I know Susan Paterson well, and would certainly contact her if I could produce anything that might be of value to the company.  My thanks again for your very encouraging comments.  We'll see what happens next!   8:) All the very best, Donald.
