Daisy PD334, built Sandhaven 1961 for Bruce family .. Sk. Jamesie Bruce, sadly now gone. Built for lines, driftnet, and seine net. She was at driftnet, when she foundered Aug '62. Crew were in a raft for 20hrs!! No helicopter rescues then. Picked up by a Danish icebreaker, Nella Dan.
A well co-ordinated search was soon underway by the PD fleet which was tied up for the weekend. When news of the sinking reached PD, they basically filled up boats with men, whether crew or not, and set out in gale conditions ... "for those in peril on the sea". The search was headed up by Jimmy Watt (Aurora) a very competent seaman. Thankfully a happy outcome.
