this 1 was owned and carry cargo to the Isle of man for many years.
belong to donnan of portavogie.
Built Forbes of Peterhead 1947 for George Forman. Excellent herring and great-line fisherman. Fished lines as far afield as Faroes and Rockall. Originally open decked, latterly had a whaleback fitted.
Shown here with the Prunier Trophy "Fish" atop the after mast. He won that in 1951 for the best season's catch at East Anglia that year. The shot was just over 303 crans. The same year, Daystar of Gamrie (sk. John West) CAUGHT 360 crans, but handed over some of his nets to Honeydew, another Gamrie boat. The Daystar's complaint afterwards was "we didna hae enough timmer"!! ie boat was too small to hold the catch!!
The trophy was for the single biggest catch LANDED by a vessel!
