Boxes of Brown Crabs.
do those redfish heads work well as bait?
Yea the salmon heads are good. They stand up better in the bait socks. Whitefish rots fast but with salmon it can last twice or three times as long.
They're good salted for the lobbys too, but none of the fish farms round here will give/sell you the morts and frames anymore, it all gets put to the dump. Bloody disgrace. The coalies that come out of the nets are good bait as well but same again all dumped

It's to stop the risk of spreading disease , the coaly can carry some of the pinker disease too . I could be wrong but in some areas using farmed pinkers for bait is prohibited . I've been on both sides of the fence and understand the frustration !

aye they look like they would last a while right enough...we had a few bass one day for bait they had went past their best in the fish house we get our bait ..no the sort of thing you can get normally ..but every creel it was in came up with a lobster ..and not the creels either side of them they just had the usual brown crab in them..never got the chance of any more to test it again..maybe just a one off!!
is flounder good for bait
The queer fellow heads are deadly for crab also skate frames or dogfish.

Funny Crabs seem to love them an a few others use them asweel. Easy to get when around 40 000 salmon processed per day and is free whitefish is hard to get and costs!
