I remember asking Davie[horse]Edgar when i was a young fellow why the east coast boats shot starboard side to and he replied they dinnae ken onnay better,here endith the lesson

Sanny and Johnny Munro were past masters at it when they were going wrong way would shot the net to Strb, then turn boat to boat the net, seen them doing it at Ardlamont going South down East shore when the herring were fast and scary. When I asked Old Douglas Neil he said to me to take no heed as any time he'd tried it was just a bloody sarach.

Grieve wasnt to keen on it john,we usaly hauled back a single end with a lot of muttering and swearing
