Anyone know why some of the bigger East Coast boats still do side-winding instead of stern trawling ?
Re last comment I think it is because some of the ground they work is very rough and they get snagged frequently (hoppers look a fair size!)
It seems they get free easier as the boat can turn and drift back side on easier ,wi less chance o catchin the prop etc in slack wires etc.
