Santa Maria 3 former Jasper then later Fair Morn. Picture take Troon May 2009
Saw her in troon the other day, needs a lot of work done, had her bottom done at girvan last year. Remember her coming new to scalpay all varnished, beautifull, hope she will be restored one day to her former glory.
Good to hear about the refit at Nobles, and hope it all works . Would be good to see her in Tarbert with a growing collection of old fishing boats. Why was she called Jasper?
this boat lay in anstruther for a year or so, she was in good nick ,all bonny painted up at the time too, with masts and derriks etc, a guy called cubby was skipper then,,,
Was speaking to Cubby recently,a good long time I've seen him.No really that much change in him...like the rest o' us he's getting and looking aulder and (unlike me !!) there's a fair bit of grey on the roof.Looked well though, had a good blether wi' him.Good seaman, knows his way about the West Coast that's for sure.
he had her port side from stem to stern kitted out with big fenders, a braw tidy job he made of doing it too...
Open for bids at the minute http://www.sweeney-k...manual=1&auto=0
Had a wee look at her last year before we took on Ocean Gem Chris, Hulls not too bad from what we could see in the water, engine has dropped a liner and shes partially stripped out. Someone had started ripping out the concrete in the hold and had'nt finished it
Shug

Wish i had the time to take on a project this size. Its a shame to see a boat like her lying going to waste
I was on her a couple of weeks ago taking a couple of pics for another member on ere, she pretty dry not taking on much water at all, could do a lot with her if u have the means to sort out engine and job an interior.
Now lying in Tighnabruaich - being converted into commercial cruiser - to get bigger deckhouse (hopefully not too big!?) - a real bonny nobles classic in her day.
