Taken in the 1930's - Paddle Tug is AYR and the Steam Collier is HAUXLEY (built 1925)(. Evidently the mast in the front of the shot is the Collier CHEVINGTON (built 1923). CHEVINGTON was torpedoed by an E-boat in the Second World War.
These Colliers were owned by the Broomhill Colliery and were amongst a fleet of 5 Colliers based in Amble.
