Shemaron(Carradale) ex-Wisteria lying at Jeck's Quay, Tarbert
John was that one of the sloans boat neabour to the watchfull.
Was a Sloan's Wisteria sold to Carradale when the last Wisteria was launched, so probably did neighbour Watchful for a time
Heard today she has been sold again, they were going to take her away but engine had seized up.

i now own Shemaron, as a write this the engine is bieng moved forward for overhaul or replacement , next spring Shemaron will be slipped for repairs and painting, the utimate aim is to have it as well pesented as the other boats in our collection Favourite and Rachel Douglas

Nice to hear she is going to good home, Chris, the condition of other two are a credit to your workmanship
that should please her former owners in trumpton, always admired her lines.
long way to go , i was up at weekend the crank from shemarons cat is in need of replacement think it will be better to have cat rebuilt than replacing engine, the Trumpton comment ? so much rusty steel should ensure plenty of authentic looking rust streaks no matter how often painted
Chris you should be able to get the crank ground down, can normal get the CAT cranks ground down twice, about a 1/4 of the price of a new one
it would appear that an oil problem caused massive of wear on crank the shells were destroyed , if we can get it reground we will but we think its too bad,
got excited about putting in a kelvin t4 i found but have decided it would be too expensive and poss not the best engine ,
i wonder if its possible to get the cat modified to run without turbo i don't need the current 240hp will have to consider implications regarding propeller etc

Chris, consider the engine was not new when installed, there were a few installed around that time and all were rebuilds.
My cousin had a Cat3406 and it cost him thousands to replace the crank and camshafts and that was an insurance covered, Cat did the rebuild.
Good contact is Duncan MacFarlane in Eyemputh 01890 781045/07860782648, for new and rebuilt parts, he has helped us out a few times sourcing parts for Cummins, but is also Cat agent
