How much of the shrinking down to this size would be due to doing without accommodation?

none of the shrinking down has anything to do with lack of accomodation.
they were built specially this size to beat the rules, eg. getting under 10mtrs.
for a while at the beginning they had free reign to catch what they wanted etc..
till the govt. changed the goalposts again to plug the loophole.
for small boats they are as efficient as boats double their size of the older style boats.
these type are divided from forward, engineroom, hold midships,cabin for 4 men aft.below decks.
on deck forward is the winch,hopper and picking tray midships,under the wheelhouse is usually a galley/messdeck.
on port side forward is a well laid out shower./toilet.
mebey small but its all there...

worked on this one for a year great set up three barrel winch down her starboard side three drums aft hopper up her stem excellent wee sea boat we were twin rigging at the time towin two 140 ft grass net towed like a train she would out fish older boats twice her size regulary best days fishing i can mind at dunstaburgh we had 47boxes  prawns and 9 boxes fish no bad for two hauls on a 32 ft boat  

we have just bought one of these boats but forward wheelhouse, it is right they tow like a train as have so much weight behind them, very very good on fuel and it out fishes other foreign boats along side us twice our size sometimes , with the waves beam on they hardly move, i wouldnt mind a 45 to 50 foot version of one
