aye started and as good as finished ..all in the 1 week ....
whats the discards like at the squeebs then?
Aye thats the boats started ti fish for them Ewan, no idea what there gettin as i'm no long home myself but looks like he had a good haul this guy.
No idea what discards they get Nicky as i've never been to them.

if thats all squeebs in the bag there then its a braw haul. its nice to have an alternative fishery for the small boats to go to. not so good if a lot of small fish are caught though. nothing worse than seein that goin back over the side.
little or no discards towing inside ..unless you count jellyfish ..which could well be what you are seeing there..........
oh right. looks like an interesting job. wonder how you would get on with a wee pelagic trawl with a sprat bag on it. i always wondered if that would work for the squeebs. i thought of a crazy idea of running some kind of underwater light down the transducer cable onto the headline to try and attract them towards the mouth.
maybe not so crazy.... who knows till its tried..let us know how you get on..... 
im surprised none of the yawls have tried it at night with the jiggers and a couple of big sodium lights, or have they?
aye was tried a few years back with no success......but might be worth further trials....
