this is what used to be smiths docks on the north side of the tyne . the big drydock is now filled in and it looks like they are doing something with a couple of the smaller ones. it had a brief spell as appledores before closing down years ago
Terry, What's hapened to Wm Press's Howden Yard, that was the last place I worked before I went to Norway, then on to emigrate to OZ. Regards Dave. Spent a bit of time at Smiths both here and down at Middlesborough. 
( actually I reckon I spent more time at the Dock Inn and the Duke Of Wellington at Howdon than at work.)
