Toward Venture aka Summer Rose

Toward Venture aka Summer Rose

Steaming out of Eyemouth heading for the tyne, the story was a guy from London bought the tug from Leith put 200 liters of fuel in and set off with a road atlas to follow the coast down to London. He ran out of fuel off Eyemouth and it sat there until it was sold

She now works on the Tyne as AMBER ROSE.

Amber Rose was built in 1969 for Lorimer Marine (Tayport) Ltd as Margaret Isobell and later renamed Toward Venture.

Oddly enough I took some shots of her up on the boat lift at Royal Quays Marina, North Shields earlier this week and will post those snaps shortly.

Here's a shot of her back in 2008 lying at Friars Goose on the Tyne - she now berths down river at A&P's Yard.

If memory serves me right, he ran out of fuel and was towed into Eyemouth by the lifeboat in thick fog.  The boat then sat in Eyemouth for many months whilst the guy lived aboard her, with his cat, which he used to take for a walk around the harbour every night.
