john [magraw]grieve, billy[boulder]gibson, wee sammy mcclroy the crew
was this one in mallaig at one time , sank when called kelly marina
horse started the sea aboard here. he says boulder bill used to ring a bell every half an hour for a cup of tea. out with the brasso every other day doin the handrails in the focsle ladders was gettin well payed for it mind u.......
she was in mallaig david think noel had her ,kelly marina was a bigger boat, britania was then called golden dawn
she had also a door thru the fo'csole to the hold to the eng room that way wee sammy cpuld keep dry when giving boulder his breakfast or dinner : :
many a morn a went thru the door so as i wldnt have to get a soakn gain doon the deck!
what kind of boat never let the beast in the box doon for breakfast? thats taking the them and us a bit too far, as for ringing a bell? a good bit better than starting the winch, when that used to happen all hands would pile oot and into the gear to troop up on deck only to be told to stick the kettle on!!! you knew if you just stuck your head up the trap that you'd get some job to do, more wire or haul or something, but if all hands appeared ready for action then it would always be a cuppa that was required, a cruel cruel man my father, taking a meal up to him would have had serious repercussions, nobody worked as hard as the skipper, ever!!! according to him.
big lachie always took his breckie in the wheelhouse....but then again the man also slept in it as well.
