Bob yts, I am sure I kent young "boris" as John Howard but then maybe getting fuddled in ma old age. Only had the one of his nets mind you way back in the far and distant past, was rigged with 20" bobbins.
The Ayrshire loons were convinced it passed ower the prawnies and squashed their burrows, some grief I got everytime a boulder was snapped in the clean gear, it was that bloody bobbin boat rolling them onto the clean net tows, no skipper error involved at all in they days.

frugal nothing, it was made to last, must have weighed nearly twice what an unrug harkass did, the last nets i saw on a quay were a new pair of boris twins (don't panic rikky, nae relation) jamie bucket was rigging them, the looked a bit heavier made than the old harkass nets but still not as heavy, the whole groundsheet was doublebraided either 6 or 4mm, only time she evertore bad was when the old man filled her to the boose with queenies and the sheet weight of them burst her off the ropes, like a knife, a lighter net woud have been destroyed, she was still lying on the quay  when the boat left, since i was pretty much housebound from late 94 to mid 96 i don't know what happened to her, hopefully somebody cut her up for spares rather than the harbour b astard taking a forklift to her and dumping her in a skip. could have done with her when i built the kids treehouse, butthen i didn't have a big enough tesco bag to go down the quay cadging some netting so i bought a coil of 12mm from screwfix and a spike from charlie cakeface and made it myself from scratch.

Jeezus QW, yer running Wee Alex's nets doon into the grun, musta been them home-made hoppers no hoppin when ye were tearing her so often or ye wurnae on the right linie, widnae be one of they old widden graph boxes ye were working with or thon hellish Decca 350T paper plotters? That wid be yer problem I would say.
Any that bottom sheet netting kicking aroond the Toon or in the shed? Send some up so ah can use it as a chafer cos the erse is oot me this week.
PS Not on the Slippery Fellow's lorry by the way, or as an ex-Toonie resident now in TT named him, "Feckin Wee Mid-dinka Warrior".
