CLAYMORE nearing Tiree pier

CLAYMORE nearing Tiree pier

This is a very early Meek pencil sketch, possibly late 1960s, early 1970s.  We are really going back in time now!  The context will be familiar to all who know the flat landscape of Tiree. The 'Claymore' is gliding gently through the calm waters of Gott Bay, and we are looking down from the hill on which the CalMac terminal building now stands. The wee lump in the background is Dunmore (An Dun Mor), Milton, Caolas, which can be seen from the starboard side of the present-day 'Clansman' when approaching Tiree.   This is one 'for the record', rather than one to admire (if I have any of these).

nothing meek about it.  I love pencil drawings, very hard to get them right, which this one certainly

Thanks, Mark.  Glad you like it.  It lay at the back of a folder for years and years, and then came to light because I wanted to use the folder for something else!  It was done as a doodle, I think, and not as anything which was consciously art-related. I saw a photograph in an old steamer booklet, and did this rough copy with a blunt pencil. I'm just a splasher and scribbler. Donald
