Blyth lifeboat rescues fishing boat

Blyth All Weather Lifeboat saved a fishing boat today which was helplessly drifting.

The Abbie Deans Spirit of Blyth and Wansbeck was called out today at approx 12.15 to rescue a ten metre long fishing boat named The Three Sisters, which reported engine failure.

The lifeboat was quickly on the scene two nautical miles off Newbiggin point,stabilised the boat to the great welcome of the three persons on board.

The boat was drifting prior to being rescued.The lifeboat carrying out the rescue had Gordon Williss in charge with a crew of eight volunteer rescuers.

The fishing boat was safely towed to the entrance of Newbiggin Harbour where it was met by the Newbiggin RNLI Lifeboat who took the tow over and safely put The Three Sisters on its carriage within confines of harbour.
