Old postcard of Sheilds.
Been a few years since i was down last Steve, must have been sprat or herring season when this was taken.
must be pre 1975 i can make out the chimney of our old house above the port of tyne building, and that was pulled down in 75/76 to build the old folks home that stands there now.
looks like the ben strome, chourn or vurie tucked in

The red boat is the Ocean Venture FR.366, Billy Summers or his auld man Simpson's Bill . We were neepered wie them and Diligent.FR392 be aboot 1972/3./4. We were spratting. bit second thoughts maybe no Ocean Venture has a trawl door ower the stern Farther up Jacquamar. FR.95 Farther still aside the ice factory is Kallista. FR.107, The bigger boats must hae been fishing the Longstone ground fer herring.
Just looking at that photograph - the 'new' Ice Factory hadn't been built yet and its rather ironic that it is about to be demolished
Looks like only the Stagg House is the only building still standing - one above the blue boat.
Regards
Steve E.
