joan dixon

joan dixon

another shot of the joan dixon, was restored nice but when i went up to have a look at her i think mel had given up on her and was going to offer to buy her
was full of  mostly rain water which was starting to show above her deckboards, and junk and needed a good sort out and a new engine or a complete overhaul
foredeck looked like it was beginning to open up and she had been sat in the mud for a good while,

I spoke with the Coble's owner, Mel Dieghton this afternoon and he confirmed that the boat is NOT for sale, he has heard the rumours but said there was no truth that he wanted rid of her. Mel acknowledges that she needs some TLC (yet again) and plans to have her out of the water and repainted in the Summer. Also has plans for an engine change over.  The lad works a lot of hours so hasn't had the time to devote to his boat but hopes that this changes soon.

i hope so steve, good to hear that mel is going to sort her out ???
I think she want they middle thofts and the foredeck taking off her.
Me Father had a sliding mid-ships thoft and he used to ship if a few cobles was moored outside of her, although his usual trick was to move her outside of em so he usually had a offside berth.
She was open when he had her built and when Will Clarkson half decked her for him in WY he told Will to leave the fore thoft in her under the deck  for strength forrrard.
