Scotia inbound to the Port of Aberdeen, Scotland on 31st August 2009.

FRV Scotia was built by Ferguson Shipbuilders Ltd at Port Glasgow for the then Scottish Office and completed early in 1998. Operating from her home port in Aberdeen, Scotia is used for fish stock assessment and environmental monitoring in the North Sea and north Atlantic waters. She carries a crew of 17 and can accommodate up to 12 scientists.

    Being a nosey bu*ger, I made a recent FOI application to the Marine Scotland regarding MV Scotia.

    Initial purchase and fitting out for the MV Scotia was £20.9 million and that the budget and actual running costs of the MV Scotia during the fiscal year 2008 were as follows:

    Running costs £1.821 million
    Fuel £0.785 million
    Total £2.606 million


    Value for money?, I will let you decide on that  ???
