Launching of Storm Drift BA187 Nobles Girvan 1962
Cracker.
What a bonnie sight one you will never see again.
How mutch do you think it would cost to build her now, if they could.
Lots of money. 10 years time if not before there will not be any wooden boatbuilders left with the skill to build a 50 ft wooden boat.
if she was £20,000 to build in 1962 she would be £327,600 to build today, good job i have my financial jacket on !!!!
A graceful lady slipping into service
She was built for £17,000 plus gear in 1962 ,Nobles would have replaced her in 1974 for£60,000 for one the same as the Alliance.
I think 327 K would be a conservative estimate Homeward..very very conservative.A beautiful piece of craftsmanship at any price though...one lovely lady to be sure.
seen nobles planking the last wodden boat they built the 40ft built on spec was it dawn treader? maybe wrong name but it was art to see men coming in with a steamin plank and not more than 5 mins it was shaped bent and nailed in place
Just been down London Boat Show Eddie and i dont think 1 000 000 would cover it at todays prices ,although i might be a wee bit biased.
