Steve shes lying at Charleston harbour in Fife owners not been near her for around 2 yrs now, Westbob and I spoke to him to see if he'd sell but want way to much money, she currently got about 2 ft of water in the hold.  Engine oil is emulsified but engine does turn by hand or did a year ago.  We are looking to get a hold of another boat to replace the Golden West but only at the right price.

    A terrible shame
She was once such a decent wee boatie
If the owner had any sense he would give her to a good home

    Jay,

We have tried to get a hold of her but at the money he wants it is out of the question.  She is still quite water tight but has gone down hill since the last pictures I posted at the start of 2009.  She could do with getting some heat in her at least and getting the engine going.  The owner has told me I can have a go at starting her but I'm not used to Perkins engines and can see no obvious way to stop her if I did get her running.  I thing its a sodenoid shutoff on it If anyone knows it would be useful, don't want to remove fuel lines if I can help it.  She needs rewired which probably doesn't help, been a fine boat in her day but is very limited on head room down below the way shes been converted. Can post pictures of her delow decks if interested.

Sure fire way to shut it down, take the filter off the air intake and get a bit of plywood to fit over it and just starve it of air will shut down in 10 secs

    Hi BigAlan
What model of Perkins is it?
While they're v popular in yachts, my understanding is that they can be horribly unreliable ... B*A*S*T*A*R*D* comes to mind
Had direct experience of Perkins just once ... in a Norwegian dory style workboat donkeys ago
It was basically a van engine and had indirect injection ... a real horror
Had a lot of experience of the BMC Commander (a marinised van/taxi engine) ... it was indirect injection too
Ford counterpart 2700 series were direct injection and much easier to work with and repair and they were far more reliable ... basically a Fordson tractor engine and once much used by the likes of Parsons for marinising into RNLI boats
I'm not surprised Christina is cramped below. Sheonce had a herring hatch and the carlings for that will likely still be in place, so you have scope for creating some headroom in the hold without major surgery and weakening her structurally
Christina is very like the wee ringer at the Scottish Fisheries Museum ... the Lively Hope b 1934
gone down hill a lot in the last 12 months

Jay don't know the model number but its a newish 6 cyl 100HP lump with hyrdaulic box turning the Kelvin prop.  Was once new I guess about 12 yrs ago I'll post some more pictures, but yes a plank over the air intake will shut her down.
