dunno where though, got a feeling eyemouth or dunbar maybe??
big old fifie, not sure what that is at the back of the wheelhouse though
crackin shot this mark m8, aft of the wheelhouse could be the funnel
Not Dunbar,St.Abbs maybe? Never seen a funnel like that in any of the old pics...wouldnae like to hazard a guess as to what it is unless it's a dry exhaust for an early diesel..beats me.
had a thought it could be a roller for hauling the herring nets maybe
I thought dry exhaust, but its must be nigh on 2 foot wide and looks open at the top. You could be on the money with St Abbs though ronnie. That rock looks familiar!
Even the big slow running diesels like Bolinders,Tuxhams and the like didnae have pipes that wide Mark,a silencer inside that big funnel maybe?? Cannae see any steam out of a wet exhaust but cooling water on the port side,so might just be a dry exhaust...I'm open to correction though lol
Its the Isa Wilson, built Cockenzie 1907. 30hp Gardner added in 1911.
Any idea if that was a paraffin or a semi-diesel Gardner Capn?
Here, Ronnie, how old do u think I am, lol! wasn't there! Have a feelin that t early Gardners were semi-deisels tho, but am open 2 correction,
No offense intended Capn....if you had been there that would make you at least 120 and fine I know you're not that old....ye're only in ye're early 70s are ye no ??
