Sovereign - HL165

Sovereign - HL165 seen here in Royal Quays Marina, North Shields on 8th November 2008.

A lovely looking 'old' fishing vessel, dating from 1936 - so that makes her 71 years old and still working
Built by Noble & Co, Fraserburgh (Scotland). Her current engine is a Gardner 6LW, 62 kw. Her home port is North Shields but she carries a Hartlepool (HL) registration number.

Length Overall:13.20 metres (43.27 feet)
Gross Tonnage:16.27
Net Tonnage:16.27
Depth Hold:1.9 metres (6.23 feet)
Maximum Breadth:4.5 metres (14.75 feet)

She is actually recorded on the National Historic Ships list of Historic Vessels - see

Just a thought, would you allow this photo on your other site?i.e. full ship only, bow shots and the like?as there is no admin like you to police or inspect photos posted, then decide to remove them. You have taken some good photos but if you take a few shots i think (my opinion)that you could post the best one or two not every one.
    Hi Michael,

Steve kindly uploaded these photos of the boat from differant angles after the interest that was shown on his original post.....http://www.trawlerpictures.net/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=2023

Multiple photos of boats from differant angles is allright on this site.

    Cheers

    Hi Michael

Sorry that you appears to have been in some way upset by my postings - whether I am an Admin elsewhere has no bearing on the fact that I post here as a member and am trying to help build the ever increasing gallery on what is a new and growing site. I'm sure if the owners do not want me to post my photographs then they will ask me to stop. At the end of the day it takes time to reduce the photographs to the required size and carry out additional research.

Believe me if I was to post 'every' photograph that I have taken of a fishing boat the sites server would very quickly fill up.

The reason for posting the additional shots of Sovereign was that other members wanted to see what her decking looked like - i.e. to see if it is original - again if that in some way 'offends' you then i can simply click on the button to delete that ot any other photograph - please let me know?

As I say, sorry if I have in some way upset you and again if I am not welcome here, then I will save my time and but out - however that would be a decision made by the owner and not you.

If you would like to discuss this further then please do send me an email - steve@steve-ellwood.org.uk

    Regards

    Steve E.
I don't have a problem with several shots of the same boat from different angles.  especially the older ones.  I think its a great help for those trying to keep one in order, or trying to put one back to how they should be.

its the sort of reference material that is almost impossible to fins elsewhere
    Hi Mark

Also a godsend to anyone making a model of a Trawler/boat - its one of those things, you can't please everyone all of the time. There are those who enjoy shots of the boats gear, those who like side views, top view - the list is endless  ;)

When a boats gone, its gone and best to at least have some views of her in the Public Domain?

    Regards

    Steve E.
    All views for me
Far from upset like i said you have taken some great photos but i am sure that if you take 5/6 shots of one subject dont you think its best to post the best 2/3 not  every one?what you do on the other site does not matter on here,as you said you could soon fill the site up, probably a bit quicker than even you would realise- time will tell.Yes Steve you are more than welcome on this site as all our fellow members including myself are as it would possibly be you who as that photo that is the one what someone wants.

    Hi michaelb

Seems the gaffers here are on my side  ;)

I am a firm believer in photographing all angles of a vessel (If a vessel is passing me on the Tyne I will probably take 20 or so shots of her and then pick out the best ones) - and judging by the above replies it seems I am not the only one!

Your last sentence doesn't make sense?

Again I would urge you to take up any argument that you have with me by email and save yourself further embarrassment.

    Regards

    Steve E.
I don't get what all the fuss is about- since when is it odd to put up three photos of the same boat, especially one from one day and two from another? Perfectly normal if you ask me, all photos should be welcomed, I don't think most of us would complain if there'd been twenty photos of this boat uploaded today.
i quite enjoyed seeing this particular boat from different angles to see how she had been kept in her original state or not as for multiple shots it gives ppl a full perspective of a boat great for model builders or artists like john baird
as he had said himself when some close up pictures of my own boat were posted he can then gauge detail and the layout better for future work
