This is now my dad's boat which he has lovingly restored over 8 years & the St Clair has recently moved to Tarbert Loch Fyne.  Does anybody recall her when she was new?  She was built for an Andy Girvan of Girvan.  Love to hear from anyone with more details on her so that I can let my dad know. :gunsout:
And hi to Bob, with my dad Phil now he says hi, apparently he was speaking with you recently  :gunsout:
    Hello Phil

Great speaking to you the other night, interesting to hear your and the boats story and plans, will call you this weekend.

    Cheers
    Bob
The Kathryn was owned by the Four Gillies brothers from kyle, and  Duncan and Norman beaton.  Donnie Skipper Norman Gillies Engineer(Banker) Murdo (poodle) and Kenny my next door neighbour Did a few trips on her as a young schoolboy during holidays mid to late 60s She was eventually sold to Stockinish Harris.
The Kathryn was originally fitted with a  114 Gardner , the engineer Norman Gillies (Banker) kept a close eye on her revs. Coming home from Ullapool at the end of the week I bumped her up slowly hoping that he woudn't notice he wasn't back in the wheelhouse two seconds when he noticed .Got a bollocking for that one. That engine was never flogged. Was still in her when she went to Harris.
THE JOHN DEERE THATS IN HER IS DUE TO BE REMOVED THIS WINTER TO BE REPLACED BY A GARDNER 8LXB NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CURRENT ENGINE ONLY DONE 900 HRS BUT NOT A GARDNER SO IF ANYONE IS LOOKING FOR A GOOD ENGINE AT THE BACK END OF THE YEAR GIVE ME A SHOUT
St clair with a torquey 8lx or Shemaron with a revvy 240 cat be interesting if we both enter the crinnan classics motorboat race

Its alright for you Tarbert Tractor boys....spare a thought for the wee Volvo Penta engined boats ....mind you I believe the Crinan Classic race is handicapped so I'll set off now!  What about a Tarbert Classic, now there's a thought.
