Auk

Seen at Balblair Harbour, Black Isle, Cromarty Firth (Scotland) on 27th August 2009.

This is a former 45ft British Admiralty Harbour Launch previously operated by the RMAS. She was built at Dunston Thorne and ordered in 1980. Belonged to a class of 7 numbered 8090 - 8096. Of these 8090 &  8091 are still in use in Devonport Dockyard albeit laid up for sale. 8092 was sold out of service on the 1.9.07 from Portsmouth as D92. 8093 METRO was sold out of service on the 1.1.06. 8094 is still in service in Gibraltar as CYCLONE. 8095 D95 was sold out of service on the 30.5.03 as Coastal Engineer and operates out of Pembroke. 8096 WENDY was sold out of service on the 14.11.89 and was converted into survey vessel HYDROTECH. Therefore this unconverted version is either 8092 or 8093. Of these one was recently operarting on the River Thames.

This was 8092 and when she was sold into private hands was renamed AUK.
