Adriatic lng - prior to tow out

Adriatic lng - prior to tow out

gas rig prior to tow out from algecerias spain to the adriatic somewhere off venice

Some construction - just been reading about her on http://www.hydrocarb...jects/adriatic/  - I thought she appeared to be made from concrete and yes she is  ;D

aye ye are right there steve only half of metre below her there ther was nae room for error when they were towing her out ;D ;D
Whoa! What the.....? Weirdest production platform I ever saw. So it was built in the yard and then towed to location? And then it was put onto it's base? That's awesome, and it's feckin BIG!
One of life's mysteries is just how a 'stone' can float  ;D

    Just a big box!!
Think on how the hell they floated Troll or Sleipner (the second attempt) oot ... talk about concrete on a grand scale
And its eerie being at the bottom of the shafts of Troll, "standing" on the bottom of the North Sea with only a few feet of concrete and steel between you and oblivion!
I'll go find the image and post it if the file isn't too large
    Jay
Aye Jay, no more eerie than checking the oil in bearings of a shaft at the bottom of the Princess Anne H269 which was one of my jobs as a Cadet Engineer back in the day - but after a while you just got used to it  ;D
