MARGARET ALISON

MARGARET ALISON

Margaret Alison 1976 Tarbert
Originally built as a ring netter for the Clarke family of Fisherrow
I had her for five years

Did the Manx owners move the wheelhouse forward for working queenies? I didn't think that looked like the original position.

    Hi Dunard
That's an el-cheapo plywood job and it was located forrard of the original wheelhouse position
The gantry foundations and additional stiffening below decks meant it was easy to fit the VM's wheelhouse
As you suggest, it was for dredging. As far as I can judge, the boat had a couple of different owners in the IOM prior to my buying her. Because the family was living at Kirkmichael at the time, I restored the Manx registry link. She was INS when I bought her and located at Barrasdale, Loch Hourn. Skipper was Tom Swanney who had to pack it in after a serious accident at Kyle
Basically Tom was blitzed and fell off the pier onto the boat. Some RMAS/Navy boys tucked him up in his bunk; it was only the following day that the extend of his injuries was realised.
Will post a pic of MA as June Rose ... still varnished and with "wooden oilie" in usual position
