    Not 'cold storage' but 'Cold Lay Up' - that is the stage one up from just Lay Up.

    Lay Up is when there is still a crew on board and some of the vessels engines will be running - usually auxiliaries.

    Cold Lay Up is where there is no crew on board and all engines are stopped.

    Financial difference is that with a Cold Lay Up the costs are cut on wages and fuel but dependent on the time the vessel is idle the start up costs can be quite high  :police:

    These aren't Bulkers, they are Container Ships, although there are also numerous Bulkers also on lay by throughout the globe  :police:

    Yes there are firms specialising as Cold Lay By Consultants - a lot of planning goes into the situation, not just a case of pressing the 'off switch'  :police:
