RIBHINN-DONN-1

RIBHINN-DONN-1

Been battering away at the wheelhouse but had to get the lid off the wheelhouse of "The Other" ringer model to remember how I dealt with the complex curves of the slopey-back style of wheelhouse 15 years ago!
So took a few images of the pair of them side by side ... late Weatherhead v mid 60s Alex Noble
Some striking differences, especially around their trademark sterns. The last of the big Weatherhead boats like Catherine Anne had drawn-out stern sections ... those are replicated in the Weatherhead model Antonina & Ruaraidh (basically CA and toehrs with the longer stern)

Hi Jay,  I was put in your direction by Ronnie.  I have spent half my life looking for someone that could build me my fathers boat - The Margaret Ann II.  Ronnie said you have a real skill for model boat building, especially Weather heads.  I was wondering if you would consider making me the Margaret Ann.  It would be a dream come true for me if it was possible. I have seen some work over the years but the individual builders I have seen do not get the Weatherhead design (stern in particular).  They much prefer to do square sterns as I think it is much easier.  The other thing I wanted to ask, do you put motors in them?  Anyway, I would be grateful if you could let me know your thoughts.  I know what kind of work goes into this type of project but I would be happy to pay whatever it costs.  It would just need to be accurate.  See what you think or you maybe able to send me in the right direction.  Best regards Martin
the margaret ann you are talking about was this peter downie of mallaig who owned this boat
my father years ago made wonderful models of fissing boats for mallaig fisherman
