Quite a bit has done over the past few days
Daughter has painted up nameboards complete with Noble Thistle
Registration numbers have also been prepared, again tapping her expertise, this time using a computer The numbers aren't applied yet but are exactly as per the original style used by Noble when the boat was new
Made the centreline beam (oak) and end brackets (aluminium) for the main hatch and all hatchboards (pine) cut to size but not finished yet
Have constructed the basic carcass of the wheelhouse ... used 1.5mm ply for skinning and inner lining, and pine zipped through my trusty wee bandsaw for framing. Will most likely overlay with faux feather & groove hardwood or pitchpine since both are to hand
Absolutely stunning work!
looks like this will be a cracker very talented work!!!!
Thanks guys
Will try to live up to the smashing comments!
To help in that regard, does anyone have access to pix of Ribhinn Donn I while rigged as a ringer ... especially anything showing the deck area?
If so, can they get permission to scan and place on this site?
Pix of sister Silver Quest would do (she was off the same drawings)
Am assuming the ring-net winch (pedestal type) was mounted centre-line between main hatch and wheelhouse and that the heel of the brailer was stepped in a hefty lump o' wood located immediately behind the aft coaming of the main hatch and set to port
Any help with such detail would be much appreciated
Cheers

looks amazingly good
Wow,wow,wow,wow...you get 5 when she's finished. Crechan put a pic of her as new on either this or the other site. I have the same pic but it does not really show the detail you will probably need. Are you commissioned for these models or is it just for your own interest?
Hi Brian
I have three images ... all ex Noble when the vessel was new, plus there is the colour image of her lying to a mooring in her early days and a later colour one as Ribhinn Bhan (painted blue)
Am reasonably comfortable about Noble boaties generally as I knew the Belle and Maid well during my time in Tarbert, plus Sapphire, the Alipeds, Huntress, Frey, Aquila and a bunch of others ... all in the 70s/early 80s
But I guess I want to be a little bit more sure than I am out how Ribhinn Donn I looked when brand new. The yard drawings are good, but they're generic, covering more than one boat
To answer your question, I build for the pleasure of it
This is the long-planned second ringer (partnerb oat, if you like). The first was built 14/15 years ago and is a Weatherhead & Blackie boat, also modelled directly off yard drawings ... the last series that started with Maryeared and ended with the likes of Catherine Anne, Saffron & Investors (stern lines were redrawn by Willie Weatherhead for the later boats, otherwise they stayed the same).
The model is really CA but is called Antonia & Ruaraidh (my two older children), is also 3/4in to 1ft scale and fastened with dowels in the same way as this latest model
Various other models around the house!

i braw work
Check your mail Jay for a photo of her steaming in full ring net rig.
Brilliant JC,I will ask Alastair Macleod who was part owner when she was built if he has any pictures of her after she was launched.
Thanks folks
