Maid of the Forth

Maid of the Forth seen here in the Firth of Forth (Scotland) on 24th May 2007. This was the boat that I took on a 'cruise' of the Firth of Fort and a visit to Inchcolm Island. the service operates from South Queensferry - see www.maidoftheforth.co.uk

"Maid of the Forth is a modern steel passenger vessel built in Bristol in 1989. Length 19m Breadth 6m and draught 1.5m.

Safety equipment exceeds the stringent requirements of the MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) Fully licensed and safety certified every year to carry 225 passengers and five crew. Our skippers are very experienced and fully qualified holding both a Class One Boatmaster and the RYA Offshore Skipper.

The vessel is powered by twin Ford Mariner diesels with a separate generator to provide 230v power for heating, lighting and beer chillers. Wheelhouse is well equipped with hydraulic steering, two VHF radios, two Radars, an echo sounder and a satellite navigation system which plots the ships position every five seconds to an accuracy of 15 metres."
