BATALIONY CHLOPSKIE

Well its a rainy day here on Tyneside, so thought I would post some snaps!

Bataliony Chlopskie (IMO 8502573) seen here leaving the Port of Tyne (North East England) on 25th May 2007. Photographed fro North Shields.

Tugs assisting were the Svitzer Maltby and Rowangarth.

Interesting to note that the vessel is named after -  Bataliony Chłopskie (BCh, Polish Peasants' Battalions) was a Polish World War II resistance movement and partisan organisation. The organisation was created in mid-1940 by the Stronnictwo Ludowe party and by 1944 was partially integrated with the Armia Krajowa. At its height, the organisation had 175 000 members.
