Allegedly he was at the winch.Sometimes when the bank are sending you letters and you cant get crew because things are not good at the job and on the west coast we are at a disadvantage because we cannot take filipino crew in to get the boats to sea unlike the east.Desperate men do desperate things, its easy being judgemental when you dont know the mans situation and lets not forget he was not the boat that was steaming at the time.

Your are right there Bob it shows the state of the job is now when she was in Arbroath she went with five o a crew.

I can say it now cos shes gone,a couple of lads that skippered her in Mallaig said she took some queer rolls i cant mind if that was after she was altered or no.
aye bob its certainly desperate when you have to consider taking a 50ft vessel to sea by yourself,,
i wouldn,t be surprised if theres a law against going to sea without a suitable number of crew aboard....
easier option would of been the £250,000. appx for this type of boat to (park up).
in reality one man couldn,t make it work , ive seen some try, then fall asleep then ashore.........
main thing is the man is safe..just a pity he was forced into it in the first place.........

Well the incident is under investigation by the MAIB so we will have to wait and see what they say in the report  ;)

    Regards

There should be a safe mannin level implimented as there is on workboats, thats 4 incidents that I know of when boats have been trawlin single handed and 1 of them was when the guy was working the net drum and arm got caught and was wraped up back to the drum boat ended up chappin against the shore unfortunately he didnt survive so how can that be a safe workin practice, I know incidents still happen fully crewed but in My eyes its crazy theres recently another incident on the west coast involving someone going to the bottom shooting the gear the same as what happened to Nigel the Moyallan fortunately they survived to tell the tale where as if they were working single handed they would just be another statistic of the MAIB......................

I know some people are under pressure but surely is it worth risking your life?;)?;)??;)??
maybe the fishermen should stick together for once and insist on haveing the flip flops back and poor fu**ers like kenny wouldnt have to go out on there own then lose every thing he's worked for all his life ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Is there no locals wanting a berth like Marty, hows the crabbing just now
its also mebey time, the prawn boats showed a flashing light like the pursers to show that theyre hauling.in the dark.
need to hoist something up during daylight hours.
mebey a bit of a clart but better than being run down/sunk!!!!!!!!!
mind you if the guy in the OTHER BOAT canny see or isny in his wheelhoose it willny maitter........
exactly codender there should be a minimum crewing its went on for years workin short handed and Ive done it in the past oot givin the boys a hand, now workin single handed is ridiculus and shouldn't be allowed its dangerous and I cant see an excuse for it in this type of boat :cheers

The reason alot of people left the industry was due to being ripped off I,m not saying this is the case here as i dont know the guy or know of him but in gerneral thats why people left the deck and theres no argument there
