Shaligar - SN95 now stripped right down and awaiting a lift out and then demolition - photographed in North Shields Fishquay - 13th April 2009.
Measurements in metres are 9.96 length, 4.2 beam and a draft of 2.2. Registered tonnage is 10.32 and she was steel built during 1997 - BARTON UPON HUMBER
Hi Paul
Seems to be taking a while for her to be lifted out of the water or perhaps towed up to West Sleekburn where they are scrapping quite a few boats.
Sign of progress?
Regards
Steve E.

Hi Paul
Even the price for scrap metal is at an all time low - Scrap Yard Owners in Alang and complaining about it and saying that its getting to the stage where it is uneconomical to cut up ships. Perhaps the stage will come when boats/ships are simply scuttled out at sea

PUT THEM ALL ON LO-LOADERS AND DUMP THEM ABACK OV DOWNING ST, THE PLACE IS NO GOOD FOR OWT ELSE.
Well at least if they were scuttled at sea, they could be used for man made dive sites and reefs, with the knock on effect of creating some jobs, but yet again the green brigade would march in spouting crap with unfounded facts and figures dribbling from their mouths
Well I think you would need a few more <10m boats to make a reef - indeed that would be a good quiz question "How many under 10m boats does it take to make a reef"
Remember the NZ guy who posted the photographs of fishing boats being scuttled in the Land of the Kiwi's - provided all toxic material is removed then the tree huggers would have nothing to complain about.
Paul - aback of No 10 is Horse Guards Parade, now if you dump them there Her Maj would have nowhere to take her birthday salute :cheer:
