CHEERS STEVE.
she was repeired at amble few year ago after hit by a ship
Hi Boat Happy
Yes indeed and accident that could have been far worse than it was.
In March 2007 she collided with the 27,000 tonne cargo ship Pacific Angel.
The two vessels collided 5 miles off the River Tyne in clear conditions, fortunately the two fishermen on board Shaligar were unhurt.
The Shaligar sustained damage to the deck, railings and rigging caused by it having scraped along the side of the much bigger ship. The skipper said that it had then been forced under its stern.
Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat was scrambled at 2.20pm by Humber Coastguard. The skipper of the 10 metre North Shields fishing boat made a mayday call when his boat started taking on water after colliding with the 27,000 tonne ship.
Pacific Angel had earlier sailed from the Nissan terminal, South Shields, and was bound for Teesport. There was no significant damage to the car carrier and no injuries and it was able to continue on its journey.
