The Oriana

The Oriana

Ran aground Saturday at Dunure. Not a fishing vessel but I was there when it happened so I thought it was worth an upload.

Sitting there as bonny as you like with the beaching legs rigged.Error of navigation?
The story I heard was that it had just been sold to someone who took it out the harbour, tried to turn the key, which broke in the ignition and they were so close to shore that they didn't have time to get the sail up or drop the anchor. Tragedy :-)

Error in snapping the key in the ignition and then not knowing how to sail properly, resulting in the above, she is holed but safe enough after the tractor dragged her clear of the rocks.

Take the boat away from the pier and then try to start the engine?,now that's a new one on me.We tended to do it the other way around, but each to his own I suppose!!

I HEARD SHE SLID BACK IN THE HARBOUR WHEN THEY WERE MOVING HER
Am pretty sure she didn't because she's still sitting on the edge of the harbour. Someone pulling your leg perhaps?
