Sovereign - HL165

Sovereign - HL165 seen here in Royal Quays Marina, North Shields on 13th December 2007.

A lovely looking 'old' fishing vessel, dating from 1936 - so that makes her 73 years old and only recently retired from fishing.
Built by Noble & Co, Fraserburgh (Scotland). Her current engine is a Gardner 6LW, 62 kw. Her home port is North Shields but she carries a Hartlepool (HL) registration number.

Length Overall:13.20 metres (43.27 feet)
Gross Tonnage:16.27
Net Tonnage:16.27
Depth Hold:1.9 metres (6.23 feet)
Maximum Breadth:4.5 metres (14.75 feet)

She is actually recorded on the National Historic Ships list of Historic Vessels - see

    Hi BowTow

She's now berthed up at St Peter's Basin, Newcastle upon Tyne - being preserved/restored as a historical boat.

    Regards

    Steve E.
she's parked next to us.  Does need some TLC though, few potentially leaky bits below the water, but is in pretty could nick considering her 73 years.  Was surprised at how shallow a draft she's got though, 3 to 4 foot which seems nowt for a boat this size

the 'short wave' aerial made me smile though - its just 2 bits of string tied between the masts, just so it looks right!
