Alliance B - BH67

Sad sight of Alliance B - BH67 in Royal Quays Marina Boatyard, North Shields (North East England) on 2nd April 2009.

Lifted out and waiting to be taken for scrapping - a real shame as she is a fine looking boat - just look at her timbers - years left in them!

She is a traditional Northumbrian Coble with a wheelhouse added. Registered in Blyth (Northumberland).

Built in AMBLE - launched 1985

# LOA :  9.90
# Tonnage GT :  7.97 T

    HI STEVE,

I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT CHOPPING HER STERN SPOILT HER SHAPE, BUT CHOPPING HER UP IS DEFFO GOING TO SPOIL HER, AS YOU SAY MATE VERY SAD.

Its a sad fact that many cobles have gone in the last year through neglect. Enterprise has just been destroyed by fire at Blyth. Pity there isn@t a preservation society along the lines of the railway ones. I know there is a coble and Keelboat soc but they have no interest in ptreserving a coble as a club.
    Hi Amblecoble

I suppose it is best left to the enthusiastic individual to preserve Cobles - for instance Mel Deighton with his boat Joan Dixon - BK92. Or Peter Weightman with his boats.

Good write up of Mel deightons efforts to restore his Coble can be seen at
